Hmmmm.... well its differant, I'll say that much. Did I miss where Packard said the reasoning behind their Maddness?
Kinda makes you think the handle bars should be on the other end of the bike....

A well known sled motor builder that is in my area makes all there pipes like this to test on the dyno. Easier to change cone angles, lengths and Dia. Once the highest Hp has been achieved they take that pipe and then start cutting apart and fitting into the sled. By the time they are done fitting with all the curves and twists they average 10 hp loss on a triple cylinder machine. Once the pipes are fit, they then send them out to be stamped.

Then if you think about it the bend isnt too bad. the regulars have a simular bend on them...... thats gonna be a site to see it breathing smoke from the front.... i like the way it makes it look..... super cool . it will def. catch on... just like the same side drag pipes

ghad this conversation with a friend earlier. Made a lot of sense in what he said to the flows of the exhaust coming straight out and not having any bends which helps evcuate exhaust more efficnecey and pipe temps being the same all around instead of hotter on the bends. I c the benefits in it now good luck packarad

Nobody is mentioning how it would reduce the chance of cracked welds.

Or make it easier for an outboard starter, and to adjust the clutch...

I will say the biggest reasons are weight distribution and stronger pipe signal due to the straighter path.
Flow is not normally a major factor due to the size of the pipe of most common 2 strokes.
