I was wondering if anyone has weighed their Asphalt Drag Bike Wet Ready for a pass.
My Shee stock Frame (cut) wet with a Bar is 280 285. No more than 285. Depending on tires.

Max, we done my stock frame mods with no chromemoly (poor man's ways lol).

The bike my wife ran 6.12 on weighed 312lb wet without a bar. The bar is mild steel and probably weighs in at 20lbs give or take a couple of pounds.

Ha ha, I look at everything...... including helium once.

I wasted $100 just to see if it would make a difference. It did make a difference in my wallet, but that's about it LOL!

Everything was on it to weigh it. I didn't wanna mess up the pic to much with a ripped up seat. Didn't get it recovered yet. I just pilled all the extra parts on top the bike but the wheelie bar was to long and was hitting the wall in the shop where I had the scale set up. I even had a quart of oil in the bottle on top the bike. Lol. I'm hopeing around 230-240 race ready. I'll let ya know soon

The Jr cars usually have a nose piece set forward of the wheels that make the lights. You will need a disc. smile

Little Blast from the Past that was brought to my attention, These are Sand Draggers and the Thread is a old one, maby some of us can bennefit from this information. Most of us allready know most of this. And it could be possible to get a Asphalt Dragger as lite as this if not more so. Good luck.

thats a good thread.... i will get a completely accurate weight with wheelie bar and full of fluids....

I bought a digital game scale off of ebay for about 50 bucks...

I can only report back what my scales says like everyone else... I think someone should start a class dealing with a weight. that way you can lighten up as much as possible with a 350 and preatty much run what you brung class.... Ideas anyone???????

Weight Classes are a good idea imho. But there are a lot of variables to go with it. Are we talking about Bike only or Jocky and Bike Combo?

The reasons behind this idea is the fact that the stock bore stock stroke class is limited to stock frame. The budget racer that scrap up enough money or fab there own chassis can't compete with the cub motors. It would have to be a jockey and bike weight. Average bike at around 250 and average man/ kid lol, 180. Could be a stock bore/stroke class, no nitro run what u brung. That way u can use the after market parts that u want and have a very competitive class IMO. What yall think

rofl So my DM in a Stock Chassie wouldn't work then I guess....

Weight Limitations are a good thing imo but I have no answers to help resolve this. There are so many variables to consider. What is legit and what is someone trying to sneak in a Class that shouldn't be there in the first place. This has been going on for Decades in a lot of differant aspects of Racing.
If we as a Group are to ever be taken seriously as Racers, we need to be a lot more organized than we are.

I'm not the quickest out there by far, just out to have fun and meet people. It would be Great to try to put something togeather. I know there is a movement in La to get Asphalt going. Craig at CP Customs is in on it. I talk to him from time to time about it. I sure wish the Asphalt following was better here in Texas. Maby it will catch on. I'm trying to get it going.

Yes, Craig is an awsome racer and great business man. Hopefully he makes this thing go through. And maybe we can push some good luck to Texas to help ya out. With proper planning we can get a meet together somewheres next year. I have a little pull with the local track here. Just a thought.

when i cut my subframe off my stock chassis, it wasnt but a few ounces different then my new sub frame from four wheel addiction... the subframe has no weight in it at all, its light

A stock frame has to weigh more then 38 lbs.... the only thing left on my frame that is stock is the engine section, and i cut all the braces out of that section i could, i used the thinnest chromoly i found and my frame was 28 pounds solo...

Some of these other sites offer lighten a stock frame up to 32 lbs for 450 bucks.... how is that possible if the stockers weight that much???? or did i read that part wrong... i need a stock frame to weigh......

So a chromoly chassis really ain't worth the cash in my book. I mean I spent cash for a preatty chassis. Hmmmmm. Makes ya think doesn't it????

I know how to find out.... weigh yourself with it...lol We know how much you weigh. But it is a Game scale so we would have to field dress you first rofl
Tha Scale is New it is a Inline Game Scale. And yes a uncut Stock Banshee Chassie is 38 pounds. Thats a Bare Chassie, Nothing else no Stem. No Bolts anywhere. No Foot Pegs. Absolutly nothing but a Chassie.
Then the exact same but Cutup and we get 26 so far and he is still Cuttin on it....Stock SubFrame...We are going to see just how lite we can get one and try to be as safe as possible. As we all know when these things are made they are a multi purpose Chassie so there is a lot that can go away for what we do.....

So honestly, the chromoly frames are not that light. It's mainly the accessories that u use that really cut your weight down. I mean titanium is the reAl ticket but who has 10 grand to spend on a frame. I think I'm going to try a stock frame as well and see what I can get on down to next year safely.

If ur chassis is full chassis u need to ad a- arms, strut, swingarm, footpegs,to stock chassis to realy compare weight.maybe then It'sworth having a priceychassis.I've never compared it that way.no one has ever given me a guaranteed weight to do so.

22 pounds for a complete Chromemolly Drag Chassie is a low weight imo. This was claimed by Triple in one of his posts back in 2003. This is a complete chassie that was weighed. imo thats not bad, but so far I haven't gotten a Chassie Builder to say that they could do that and be safe. This is the same Member that claimed 218 Pounds Race Ready also.
I've weighed most everything that goes on one of these things and if the Chassie is actually 22 Pounds 218 is about right. +- very little.

I see where the weight can come from. I have no front suspension. And running those light fronts so that drops me alot. This is one great topic. I guess someone needs to weigh every part and see where the difference is and where the best places to go to get the weight down

Actuall Weight or Drag Bike Part
Engine wet 82lbs (stock 350)
Oofs. Total for 2ea is 14lbs CPI SF BB
Carbs 1lb 39 mm Keheins
Claimed Weight of Chassie, Radiator and fuel tank 30lbs.
seat 5 lbs
JJ&A axle 8 lbs Gun Drilled
Rear Tires for 2 is 26lbs wheels included (Sand Tires Triple Buff Rippers +72RO not Asphalt)
Front spindlemounts 15 lbs for 2 (triple Buff Sand Tires not Asphalt)
Chain 4.5lbs
Gas and oil and water estimate 15lbs
Misc 10 lbs
Rear Brakes 8lbs?
This is a start....I will Weigh Asphalt Set up as far as Tires are concerned... Wiring I didn't weigh as we plug in the CDI to the Stator That was figured in the Engine weight.
The small stuff was weighed with a Baby Scale. So it should be close.

I'm confused that could have been asphalt tires I weighed I'll check and make sure. If it was it was 20x 8x10 AR's and Wicked's 2" wide Spindle Mounts

Dam. That's open mouth and insert foot. Didn't know everyone was as OCD about it like myself. I'll weigh my skinny fronts tomorrow and spindles. And rear tire with rim.
