I saw this on the net and thought it was interesting. Arctic cats 4 stroke snowmobile is a twin and cc wise very comparabile to the caracal. It's 98mm x 76mm. 1150ccs. D&D built one that set the dtr record at 604hp!! That's on the stock crank and cases! I don't know everything about it but from what little I read about it that's pretty impressive. It's turbo'd. It ran 500ft in 3.8secs but I believe that wasn't this same motor configuration.

What's the most hp out of a pa caracal twin? I have no idea but I was wondering it it's close to what this 4 stroke puts out. Dunno.

D&D build some amazing motors. They built 2 Triple ex. port OEM 250R cylinders for me. With there tuning we won alot of Drag races in NY, PA and Ohio.

chris is right...they build some wicked sled engines....chris and I probly know the guy that built it very well.......

i think that just shows how far behind the 2 stroke monster motor really is in development. more work and dedication i think will yeild huge gains..

still that 4 2 smart car with th eartic motor is bad [censored]!! i was thinking that one of those turbo'd in my MG midget would be killer!

thats very impressive, well actually more than very impressive lol, I read it was a stroked crank but was oem modified parts, I use alot of AC parts on the big stuff, there crank parts are BEEFY lol

yeah I did a little looking around and saw some of those crank parts. Beefy is an understatement for sure! 604hp is still pretty unbelievable to me. Thats a lot for that size motor. But then again in outlaw 10.5 world they are probably using the same methods to get those kind of hp:displacement ratios.
