I got an 01 honda rubicon 500 that is not shifting and the throttle override seems to be activated whn its in reverse. Has anyone else came across this problem? It has the selector switch and the lights are blinking in the dash. My question is there some type of reset that needs to be done

It can be number of problems, angle sensor, tps sensor, est.

You can get the trouble code by:
While its in Neutral
press up and down button together, hold
turn key on and release u/d buttons,
and press them together again
count the flashes of the -- on gear indicator
example if it flashes -- pause -- --
thats a code 12

I worked on one once, that did the same thing the sensor went bad....and would not shift....i beleve the dash light flashed and would not shift.....you can get a new one but has to be reprogramed if i remember right by a honda dealer....but it's ben a while ago and i forgot.... getting older i guess...lol

do you remember which sensor it was and the location because it has a speed sensor and shift switch and angle sensor if im not mistaken. Either way thanks guys for the input trying to help a couple of hunting buddies out.

Most likely it will be the angle sensor. Its a quick fix, just has to be installed properly because it is spring loaded.
