Here is the deal. I have a full auto 6 speed for my drag bike. I really wanted to try somthing diffrent on this bike so i got a solenoid to shift the bike, electric, not air. It seems to have plenty of power but no quite enough to make the full shift while the bike is not running. My question is this: On a full auto tranny at WOT...how easy is it to make it change gears? Real easy under load and running vs just sitting there not running? Will it take much less of a pull on the shift lever when the bike is running at WOT? I do not plan on running a engine kill during the shifts. Anyone have any experince with this stuff? I am trying my hardest to not run an air shifter LOL.

I don't have a banshee but on my cut tranny it really only takes about a half throw of the shifter to get it to shift under power.

If you are nervousabout it you may be able to pull the clutch discs and spin the clutch basket with a drill and see if the tranny will shift. Of course the inner hub speed will be much lower than when the motor is running but it should give you an idea as to whether it will work enough to get the shifter to lock into the next gear.

So it takes less effort to shift when running than it does just sitting there not running...... Guess it comes down to the star and spring on the shifter... I still need to make it over that...

Not sure if the helps but the make 70 lb and 100 lbs For shaved door handles and think u can pick them up on eBay cheep
My banshee shifts same running or not and may look at were u mount it with that been said it takes ruff a 100 lbs to counter a 1000 lbs @ 10ft in a leaver app so if u nee more power u can move ur set up out closer to the end and make it work hope this helps u !

If its a Over Ride Tranny you do not need to kill the engine during shift. Air only will do the trick or you can use a electric solonoid to do it just don't kill the fire. you should be fine.
Only time you need to kill the fire is if it is a Manual Tranny your trying to shift like this.

Yup, was not going to kill during shift. I just dont think its gonna work. The solenoid has an 11 LB pull rate. It takes more than 11LB to shift it from th center of the shift lever. Moving the solenoid to the tip of the shifter makes a longer stroke needed so that casues another whole issue. I found a place to mount the small 12oz air tank so im just gonna do that. Th noid was worth the try...it draws like 50 amps so going to a larger one will just casue more battery issues etc...just not gonna cut it! The air shifter has more power and longer stroke...

never shift it with a "powershifter" ,electric or air, without the shafts spinning (running) that will break parts! the dogs and spokes CANNOT BE IN LINE with each other when you hit the button, very bad on shift shaft, forks, and drum ! plus no tranny shifts right unless it is spinning the dogs and spokes can be opposing each other and that wont allow the fork to move over correctly

\one thing you have to do is have at least a 2.5 to 3 inch lever on the sift lever for the leverage to work right abd they need to be close to perpendicular smile

I spin the sprocket when I shift it... I used an air shifter now. Should work perfect. I made my own air shift bracket. Does someone make a bolt on bracket?
