Im lookin to pick up a mint 1985 cr 500 that is completely redone from top to bottom. I will be trading a drag ported 350 motor for it. Do u guys think this is a good deal? Im just lookin for a fun toy for the ice. Any advice is appreciated, Thanks Jesse

'85 was a decent year. overall i think the newer engines are alittle better imo (1990 onward). '85 had 3 cog trans, newer ones used 4. 85/86 used short rod which was discontinued last i heard, 87+ longer rod can be bought at tons of places. old ones had magnesium covers that rotted from the coolant, newer versions was aluminum. old clutch was 6/7 plate with ball bearing, newer one 7/8 plate with pancake bearing

i really enjoy my cr5 trike. is it the fastest thing in the world ? hell no. is it a blast to ride?> hell yea. is it the combo for everyone? hell no..
infact since noone seems to know or want to build me a pipe for it i am working on doing just that as of now. yes i know cpi has a pipe but they dont offer it in a out frame and dont have a silencer for the inframe model. so screw it. cpi works well for me with porting. far better than fmf, PC or stock pipe. fmf power core2 muffler fits the pipe on a bike. not sure about a 3wheeler. could probly buy the cones from mike and weld it yourself for oof
