Dune bikes that run struts WILL NOT be eligible to compete for the title either... being that when u put struts on it... it becomes-> Rigid... correct... because rigid is rigid??? because King of the Dunes has always been.. run what u brung and hope u brung enough!! But if yall scared of our rigids just tell us to stay home!! then you said if it was to ruff on the dunes u would take it to the drag track??? then its not the King of the Dunes! Dune bikes has always competed with drag bikes we never said u can't compete cause u was a dune bike!!! WE are at a disadvantage anyway (rigids) so if we have enough Balls to run in the dunes then let us! So why are we getting thrown out to compete for the crown??? Don't be scared of us rigids we won't bite!! Same goes for a wheelie bar... They always said dune bikes don't need wheelie bars... Yall running them now!!! So i think the crown should be open to anyone who runs on the dunes!! come one... come all... lets see who falls!!

this post for the ORIGINAL RACE doesn't say anything bout rigids not being able to compete for the crown!! Because it says DRAG FRAME... Correct me if i'm wrong, thats what a rigid is DRAG FRAME!!! Yes Scott it does and Thanks for replying to my Question. I know as always you have the best interests or the Racers at heart. I just konw how choppy it can get quickly out there.
Just knowing you will be grooming the dunes makes me feel a lot better about people having a good time.

Bangingears, I think you are missing my point...safety is of most importance...as soon as I posted the official rules, some folks with "rigids or drag frames" (not stock frames with struts)called Joe Burns and started complaining that running their rigids/drag frames on the dunes was dangerous and running them at 400ft was surely dangerous. So, I made some concessions and said, if there are enough rigids/drag frames that show up to make a class, we will be glad to run them on the track at 300ft if they deem it unsafe to run them on the dunes. But, they will not be eligible to be crowned King of the Dunes if we do so.

For the record, a stock frame with struts will not be considered a "rigid/drag frame".

Bring on your rigid drag frames, we will find a place for it to compete. We want everyone to participate, but we also want it to be as safe as possible.

No one get there panties in a wad now. He has great point and I don't think anyone out there wants to see if there helmets can stand up to a 70+ mph crash. The point is simple. Bring on all bikes. If the 400' track isn't smooth enough and you don't feel comfortable then run the 300' track. It's not like you are paying extra money to race. It's just bragging rights. Consider it a sandy street race. Now, who doesn't like a good street race?????

UPDATE: After taking official measurements in the dunes, we feel it is the safest to run 300', not 400' until more dozer work can be completed.

We will run 3 bikes wide 300' out in the dunes. Wheelie bars are not recommended as you will be launching off the berm.

This brings back so many good memories there. I always had a Great time at La Dunes. I can only imagine how Great it must be to actually be smooth.

Scott, will the 300ft track have the lights and be giving any times? All i have left is to put the new chain on, mount the oof pipe to the peg and tune this thing. Myself and a few buddies should be there, hope the weather is good.
