Packard Enterprises is set to be in Rocky Point for September!
Will they be the fastest in the Planet Sand for 2 Cylinder Heads Up? The E.T. Set in Yuma (January 2004) 3.53 @ 94.17 MPH on a two stroke 880cc banshee is awesome!

If I was a betting person, I would say Koolguy is right, with Packard winning the single and twin class. My guess is Dan Hull winning the Triple class, Possibly Insane Racing's R1 winning the 4 cylinder class, and one of the lay down bikes winning the open?
And the chick winning Pro ATV 1..... (I wish!!!)

I'm not aware Packard is confirmed. I heard Dan Hull, Mike Brooks, Southern Style Racing and others are not coming. Is that true? Who has confirmed at this point.

Sherry just got off the phone with Dennis Packard at 4:11pm, August 2, 2004. He has confirmed and will be running his Twin in the Triple Class, he is arriving in Phoenix the Sunday before race week, and was looking forward to having some fun vacationing in Rocky Point before the races.

Mike Brooks/Southern Style are not mentioned as key players, everyone is a winner if they have the courage to join the race.

We met with Mike Brock who is a top contender to win the open class saturday night (3.09 E.T.), he confirmed he would be there, he will also be working with Mike Goodale. I spoke to him again today at 4:11pm August 2, 2004, he confirmed he is coming with 3 fast bikes.

I spoke to Dan Hull at 4:59 today, August 2, 2004, he said his bikes are ready, he commited that he is coming; he also said he may ship the bikes to our house and we have an extra 44" foot trailer that we will transport his bikes in. He also is going to put up some extra money for a heads up class.

There are no rules about fuel. If Dennis does run rocket fuel, then he deserves credit for making it work. We all have the same opportunity. I would run it too if I knew how to make it work without a big boom!

Dennis doesnt run fuel. No reason to hate on dennis just because his stuff runs well. I suppose Dan Hull runs nitro too since his stuff is faster then you too right *sarcasm*

I heard he ran nitro, does nitro really make that big of a differance? i have never seen or knew anyone who ran it.
is it comparable to running nitrous? Why dont more people
run it?

I know for a fact that some of the builders do run some different fuels, nitro plus other stuff. I don't know what Packard runs, but I have seen others builders get out test tubes, and look like mad scientists mixing concoctions, and their bikes run very well. Most people do not run it, because it is very hard on your motor, and it takes a lot of research to get it right. In the process of trying to get it right you break a lot of parts, and buy lots of new pistons.

why is it always that somebody finds and excuse to hate on the fast guy an excuse to hate on the person that is doing something good to the sport showing us with his machine that there is alot more to do than what everybody is doing why can you just support and admire that the fast guy is fast and instead of hate why don't you use it as a pointer to say "if he could be that fast i could to" don't hate...........appreciate

fuel is just another tool to go fast, just as specific type of porting, gearing, carbs, compression etc. it is all fair

it is all fair.......since there are real no governing bodies in sand drags that mandate what you can and cant do. I do think it makes for a great topic to discuss. They are always very interesting.

i don't care if you run karo syrup! if you can get a motor to run on nitro it's available to everyone. if your scared to use it or can't figure it out then ask somebody. there are a bunch of people who have tried it unsuccessfully, and anyone who can get it to work is obviuosly a better tuner then someone who cant. don't hate the playa hate the game. p/s this isnt directed at anyone just my opinion.

We have been building motors for years. We, along with every engine builder that ever lived, have experimented with Nitro. We don't use it because it is so hard on engine parts. Two strokes, unlike 4 strokes, cycle everything through the bottom end before it reaches the combustion chamber. That means that all the bearings are exposed to the corrosive nature of nitro. When we experimented, we took out all the crank bearings, rod bearings and one piston on a Banshee. We haven't ran it since. Motors can build great performance on alcohol if the motor is set up right and the alcohol is a good quality race methonol. There are different grades of alcohol with varying percentages of water, needless to say water is not your friend with any fuel especialy alcohol. We are looking forward to some great heads up racing at Rocky Point. I understand there will be fast bikes from A&S, K&T, D&M, Port Magic, Mike Brooks, Mike Brook, Mike Goodall, there sure is alot of fast Mikes out there, and many others engine builders, by the way, don't count out the boys from Oregon and Washington, there getting faster all the time. It will be great to see everbody at the same track at the same time where they are not limited by the constraints of bracket racing. I think Charlie and Banshee Chick are doing every thing they can to make this a great race. Thanks to them for a their efforts.

I had very good luck with nitro in a true 350, never broke anything other than trannys while running it, I recently tried it on a 10millT-REX and it shucked the crank bearrrings after very few passes, have you seen that it is harder on the big motors than the small 1s,,, i will say that it is very corrosive i agree,,, when i would purge the 350 i,d run it till the plugs fouled, trying to wash all the nitro out,,,maybe that helped it live,,,JMO
