Sherry just got off the phone with Dennis Packard at 4:11pm, August 2, 2004. He has confirmed and will be running his Twin in the Triple Class, he is arriving in Phoenix the Sunday before race week, and was looking forward to having some fun vacationing in Rocky Point before the races. Mike Brooks/Southern Style are not mentioned as key players, everyone is a winner if they have the courage to join the race. We met with Mike Brock who is a top contender to win the open class saturday night (3.09 E.T.), he confirmed he would be there, he will also be working with Mike Goodale. I spoke to him again today at 4:11pm August 2, 2004, he confirmed he is coming with 3 fast bikes. I spoke to Dan Hull at 4:59 today, August 2, 2004, he said his bikes are ready, he commited that he is coming; he also said he may ship the bikes to our house and we have an extra 44" foot trailer that we will transport his bikes in. He also is going to put up some extra money for a heads up class.

We have been building motors for years. We, along with every engine builder that ever lived, have experimented with Nitro. We don't use it because it is so hard on engine parts. Two strokes, unlike 4 strokes, cycle everything through the bottom end before it reaches the combustion chamber. That means that all the bearings are exposed to the corrosive nature of nitro. When we experimented, we took out all the crank bearings, rod bearings and one piston on a Banshee. We haven't ran it since. Motors can build great performance on alcohol if the motor is set up right and the alcohol is a good quality race methonol. There are different grades of alcohol with varying percentages of water, needless to say water is not your friend with any fuel especialy alcohol. We are looking forward to some great heads up racing at Rocky Point. I understand there will be fast bikes from A&S, K&T, D&M, Port Magic, Mike Brooks, Mike Brook, Mike Goodall, there sure is alot of fast Mikes out there, and many others engine builders, by the way, don't count out the boys from Oregon and Washington, there getting faster all the time. It will be great to see everbody at the same track at the same time where they are not limited by the constraints of bracket racing. I think Charlie and Banshee Chick are doing every thing they can to make this a great race. Thanks to them for a their efforts.

I had very good luck with nitro in a true 350, never broke anything other than trannys while running it, I recently tried it on a 10millT-REX and it shucked the crank bearrrings after very few passes, have you seen that it is harder on the big motors than the small 1s,,, i will say that it is very corrosive i agree,,, when i would purge the 350 i,d run it till the plugs fouled, trying to wash all the nitro out,,,maybe that helped it live,,,JMO
