HA HA HA, I knew I could make you look It was like Christmas today at the house, finally got our big jugs (Caracal's) and boy can I say, those are the biggest jugs I've ever had, lol By the way, Calvin, have I told you lately that I love you? Charlie does too, but he just can't tell another man that

We will try our best to have this together for LA. Lots of work to be done, I'm sure we won't have any test time before then. One of the biggest issues is the Chassis, the whole motor assembled is hella huge! Do not think this motor will fit into any chassis because it won't even come close. Charlie has had the cases and started building the chassis, but after recieving the cylinders today, its back to the drawing board. The chassis is now back up on the fab table to make some changes.

Dragon, you know what they say... If you can see them, and touch them, they must be real, lol Just a word of advice though... Don't ever touch Charlie's jugs, he gets kinda crazy, lol

We do not have a billet tranny yet, but they should hopefully be finished anyday. We have our fingers crossed
Another big problem is no one makes pipes for these yet, Charlie was up late last night designing specs for some

We do not have a billet tranny yet, but they should hopefully be finished anyday. We have our fingers crossed Another big problem is no one makes pipes for these yet, Charlie was up late last night designing specs for some A post like this coming from Bansheechick, sure does grab peoples attention. LOL I have been thinking that even though there will be some HUGE motors in the twin class, alot of them will be run for the first time there and that can mean that they do not run to their potential. That's why I am still in the twin class with only a 520cc motor. Hopefully my three years of tuning the thing and a lot of NOS will make it competitive. I still like the fact that last years runner up, Bill Page from the barn guys, got there by driver ability, rather then having the fasest ET in the class. Now that's good racing when it isn't the amount of money you spend to win, although I am sure he has spent his share. My point is that he didn't have the biggest or fasest motor there and he still almost won!!! It is going to be awesome to see all the new creations at this race. I am looking more forward to seeing this stuff then actually racing. After my accident, I have a much different perspective on the sport and right now a 100hp shot of nitrous doesn't sound real fun just yet. I need to get comfortable with the bike again and hopefully that happens after only a few runs. The first run will DEFINTELY not be on the hose!!!LOL I am sure Bansheechick will need a few runs to get comfortable with the new Jugs!!!!LOL Why is it that you never be done with your stuff before the deadline? I have been battling this every new year and still I am always wrenching on stuff the night before I leave. I never give the people that work on my stuff, a deadline. As a matter of fact, I tell them I need it weeks before I actually do and I have never been ready in advanced.

Seems like we always put bikes together last minute, one time I drove while Charlie wrenched in the trailer on the way to fallon
As for the fastest ET does not always wins, that is a great point. My bike has ran with the best of them, but everyone knows I am known as the Red Light Chick, lol!
Riding the Caracal will be a new game. The Caracal is DOUBLE the cc's of anything I've ever rode Can I do it, who knows? Am I scared, not yet. Am I stupid, perhaps, lol Only time will tell, I will either get off with the biggest smile on my face I have ever had, or say screw that, and Ohton will have to ride it!

Just curious. Where did the Caracal name come from? Its a cat, Calvin must have a thing for big cats The Cheetah, Sabretooth, Caracal The Caracal in appearance resembles the Lynx in having characteristic dark tufts on its large, pointed ears and is indeed often referred to as the African Lynx or Desert Lynx, however the caracal is not closely related to the true lynx species. Extending the visual comparison, the body of the caracal is slimmer and less stocky, its legs are thinner and its tail longer than the Lynx. It can grow up to 3 feet in body length and sport a tail about a third of its body size. Its coloration is generally yellowish brown to a darker red/brown, with the undersides of the cat, areas around the eyes and under the chin being white. The backs of its ears are black – the name Caracal is derived from the Turkish word ‘karakulak’, meaning ‘black ear’. Melanistic or all black caracal have also been reported. The habitat of the caracal varies depending on the location within its range, which spreads from Central and Southern Africa (excluding the areas of dense tropical vegetation along the equator), through parts of the Middle East and Southern Asia across into India. The cat is found in dry savanna and woodland areas, scrubland and rugged terrain in mountainous regions, where it is known to live up to 3000 metres. Like other cats found in dry, arid or semi-dessert locations the caracal can survive for long periods without water, instead obtaining its requirement form the metabolic moisture of its prey. Altogether there are seven named subspecies to be found in the African continent and only two in the Asiatic part of its range. Within Africa, the caracal is most abundant in South Africa (C.c.caracal) and in Namibia (C.c.damarensis), although populations in other areas of the continent are also believed to be of sufficient numbers to make the cat secure in most of its African range. Outside Africa, the Turkmenian caracal (C.c.michaelis) and South West Asian caracal C.c.schmitzi found to the extreme east of its range through to north west India are less abundant. There is some evidence to support the theory the Turkmenian caracal is not a valid subspecies and should be grouped with South West Asian form. However if separate subspecies are accepted then the Turkmenian cat is to be considered rare. In hunting, the caracal is mainly nocturnal, but will also use the twilight hours to search out its prey. Diurnal activity has also been observed, specially in the hunting of bird. For its size the caracal is strong and fast, and as well as taking smaller prey such as jerboas, sand rat, ground squirrel and rock hyrax, it can also bring down the larger reedbuck and duiker. Much in the way of the Leopard, the caracal will sometimes cache its larger prey up in the lower limbs of trees and return to feed on its kill over several days. The caracal is also well known for using its agility and superior jumping ability to catch birds just after take-off – here prey species include pidgeons and guineafowl. In most parts of its range the caracal has no set breeding period and a female may often mate with up to three males .The litter size is usually between 1-6 kittens and they are born after a gestation period of approximately 71 days. The kittens have a daily weight gain of approximately 21g per day and although they reach maturity at about 16-18 months of age they are often independent from about 12 months

Yeah, and the bad thing is Charlie says the slides are sticking and he might need to put heavier springs in them
Ha Ha, LA might be good watching, I'd hate for the throttle to stick WFO on this thing!
Snowbaby, you might need to take out more trees, lol J/K

Yes, Jeff & Kim are some of the best people we have ever met. When we were searching for a track to host the Planet Sand drags we were referred to him, and are sure glad we were. Jeff's enthusiasm for the sport, his track, machinery, and staff are all top notch. In our opinion you couldn't find a better place or people to run this race. There have been many improvements made to the track this year by Jeff and others. We will also be bringing two computers with pre-registration already in the database to speed things up as far as entries go.
However, don't think we don't have to do anything, our phone call volume is so high concerning the race, it's hard to get anything done, lol. I may not get as much test & tune time as I would like because I am helping with registration So when you all are racing and I'm still sitting behind that table, feel sorry for me J/K. Charlie is also helping with registration and doing all of the tech inspection on all bikes that will be inspected.
After the race Charlie, Jeff, Kim and I were the ones counting money for racers payout at daylight while most of you were sleeping (I think it took us twice as long as it should have because we were all so darn tired, lol) Normally, Charlie and I get overwhelmed just by answering questions, and stressing out about trying to make everyone happy.
Not sure if Charlie wants me posting this or not, but last years event overworked Charlie so much he was sick during and after the event. After not recuperating in a day or two he had to be taken to the hospital in LA where we found out he was diabetic. Charlie has lost about 50 lbs since last years race, and as long as he eats the right foods, and takes care of himself, he is doing fine without any medication.
My bike did not run well at years drags because Charlie was too sick to work on it. We never changed the gearing or tires during the race. Most of the time everyone would be racing, and Charlie’s blood sugar was so messed up (unknown to us) he would be sleeping in the trailer
I have been surprised to find out how many other people are diabetic also. You would be amazed at how many of the builders and racers are also diabetic. My moral to this post is... if your builder is diabetic and you want to go fast... take care of them feed them good food and sugar free drinks! French fries and soda don’t cut it, lol. Many times they just get too busy and don't eat right when it comes to racing time. The last thing any of us need is for someone to go into a diabetic coma because their blood sugar is too high or too low during racing

JEFF & his staff ran the race.... Charlie raced...... that's why he could do both..... First, I think it is impressive, what Charlie still did after the above situation, and the fire that burned him. Must not have been the greatest vacation that he was proabably planning on having. I hope this year, he will be feeling much better. I could tell that he must have not been feeling well, as he was in the trailer more then he was outside, except during the times he needed to be managing the race. I don't think Charlie tries to run the race and race himself. I may be wrong but I never saw Charlie go down the track. Bansheechick drive the Ohton bikes. Maybe it was just that fact that he wasn't feeling well, but I thought the Chick was the main jockey. Jeff and his staff pretty much ran the race, as stated already, but whenever there were any situations that needed to be discussed, I saw Charlie there. Maybe I am wrong about last year and maybe Charlie plans on running and racing this year, but last year I didn't see him doing any racing.

You are mostly correct, but Charlie and Jeff work together on everything, before, after, and during the race.
You are also correct that Charlie hasn't raced in a while, me and Charlie Jr are the Ohton jockies now, even though Charlie rides better than both of us. Keep your eyes on Charlie Jr, he will be there on a little Ohton 350 trying to tear up the bracket racing and the 350 classes. He sure is good on the lights, I think it's the hand eye coordination he gets from playing all of those video games, lol.
It will be fun to see Charlie ride one of the big bikes; if I have my hands full, Charlie may have to just knock the dust off his helmet One thing about it, he's not scared.

We never finished it. Sold the jugs, and cases and chassis. Been out of the sport for a couple of years. Started the Scimitar project this year, and were back
