It was hard not to notice the field of 4 strokes this year and the incredible times they were running especially the HPR bikes of MrHorsepower and Sandbomber. Who would have thought a single cylinder thumper could ever get in the 3 second range and with electric start to boot! On a brand new combination that had never been run down a track ! MrHorsepower went 3.96 on his only his third pass !
I am starting to wonder what these 4-strokes (HPR) are capable of if he could absolutely just roll it off the trailer, and bang out a sub 4 second pass ?

What could have Eric`s bike run with say - 1 weekend of T&T ? ... a good, EASY, solid .10 ?? Surely thats not out of the question, right?
Gearing, timing, jetting, & on & on ?
I may even be on the low side.
Were talkin` from only 3 passes ya`ll !

How about a lighter rider ? Eric mentioned he goes 175 ready to race ... lol - probably don`t need to go into how much that may acount for.
Another half tenth ? Yes/No ?

I`m pretty sure that particular engine was down just about 10-12% from the prior weeks dyno testing ... get that back, then stack on another couple ponies worth of squeeze and it`s time to hit the timers again !

Everyone probably agrees that no-one runs their best without some tuning time ... what does everyone think the possibilities are ?

3.80`s ?

3.70`s ???

Everything is possible with the new technology.
Who was thinking thats the two stroke two cylinders will hit the 3.3 ??

two years ago if your bike hit 3.8 thats will make a big smile in ur face.

Man that's for sure!!!!! Two years ago I was a record holder with a bike that ran 3.8. Now I am at the bottom of the field. It went from 10mm to 14,16,18 and then 20mm REAL fast. Now they have the Caracal that is I beleive +31mm and a 98mm bore. Most builders I have talked to don't even work on 350's anymore.

The fast thumpers are definitely a favortie for me as well. They take a lot of work though, even more maintenence then our two strokes. Continuous valve adjustment and even re-ringing and or/rebuilds after only a few runs, especially the ones that run Nitro.

To me this makes the thumber guys deserve even more respect for some of their accomplishments.

Single cylinder, four-stroke ATV breaking 4.0 would have been the funniest joke at the time during the Warrior's day. Look how far it has come in the last ten years. Amazing!!

I think a 4 stroke will hit the 3.8's within the year. Beyond that who knows, as long as theres guys out there willing to push it, we might look back in 5 years and say we have come along way since the 4 second barrier fell.

Banzeeman the great thing about our DS motors is they were on gas with a little nos. The motor I ran last year at planet sand was never rebuilt after racing all year and won 4sws. A year of racing is what I call low maint. with only 1 clutch change. We will see how this bigger motor holds.

Yeah that isn't a lot of maintenence. What times did you DS run? Is it in an aftermarket frame? What does she weigh?

Maybe I need to look into one of these low maintenence bikes. I sure do like to see the fast ones run. You can tell it is all torque, because they never sound as fast as they are going.
