Looking to run the 1/8th on my boys new 4mm cub. Needing some gearing advise. I was going to start with a 16-41 and go from there. It's K&T drag ported with all the bell and whistles.

with a 5 speed and 20 inch tires you'll probably need a 19/40 or equivalent.

yeahthat Or a 18 39 depends on the fuel to. Alky seems to make them spool up quicker. Gas seems to take longer to rap out. So you might take a couple gear selections.

With asphalt gearing you are going to have to leave in 1st you know that right?

Might wana look at getting a 1-4 with 5th and 6th gear. I think starting in second gear is gonna hurt your 60ft. It should 60 around 1.40 to 1.35. If your gonna keep the tranny mightwana get some taller primary gears cause after 17 on the front you have to get bigger ones made. Bike outa run around 6.5 105. To give ya an idea of what I've seen running

If ya run it like it is. I'd start out with a 17 39 at the smallest.with 18inch tires or 17 42 with 20's

what gearing would he use for the 2-5 to run 1/8 mile..and if he gears up real high the bike will fall on its face on the launch..wouldnt it?i have the same setup and was gonna try 15 41..would that be to short.

If you have never ran asphalt it is a differant world from Sand. Its a lot longer so you have to gear for it. And you will need at least a 5 speed tranny.

I have a 350 that runs 6.6 at 98. Its geared 17 40. Thats with 6th gear. If you dont have 6th gear ypu need some taller primarys. Starting in second is gonna hurt you as said before. Mine bike never spins the tires

unfortunately if you get a low enough gear to take off in second then you will be way out of gear beofre the end of the track. If you gear for the 1/8th then you will be beating up your clutch trying to slip it long enough not to bog the engine on take off. Good luck, I think I would just swap out the tranny real quick. I know K&T should have several sitting on the shelf waiting for you.

18's and 19's are cheap from sprocket specialists

just to helpyou not wast money.k&t 4mill 19.5 tires 6speed trany 17/40 or 17/39 depending on the track should work good does on mine anyway.also mine is on alky.on race gas 16/40 with 6speed trany 19.5 tires. if jocky weighs less than 150 you may need a little taller gear mine does. hope this helps.oh yeah 1to4 clutch 5&6 will slow you down.wcr sells a 1to6 best trany i have found.
