Here is a general tip that will save alot of headaches..
Always un hook all your electrical parts ( coil,CDI.PVL coils,digatron.and NOS parts) before welding anywhere on your bike.
I figured this one out the hard way a few years ago I recommend not only unhooking them, but removing them from the bike, and hiding them in the floor of your closet with a two pillows, and a blanket on top!!!! LOL  Man, a welder will ruin more electrical parts than you care to mess with in one arc! Never did it on my banshee because I remove everything, but burned up 2 MSD's on my drag car before I figured out what the heck was going on. I had a full brand new MSD, dist, coil, ignition box and it was running hard and perfect. I welded a wheelie bar mount on the chassis and it ran like crap. Replaced the ignition box and it ran good again. All over on welding job. Not worth the headache. Just take it off the bike!
