Sorry Mr. Hinkie

It was brought to my attention the dates in which your record was made, I made the following post on 04/25/08. Your runs were produced on the 17th between 7:22PM-7:36PM.

Quote:

POSTED 04/25/08

The Track started out in perfect condition with a series of networked computers and the latest software from Porta-Tree, the upgrades were not cheap, Jeff hired in a Porta-Tree Technician to ensure the New Timing System would be fully functional, the technician attended for 3 days and stayed for the first day of test & tune. Everything was good until he left,

During the drivers meeting for those who attended, we stated there could be some eratic times.

Tuesday(15TH), Early Morning Wednesday(16TH) and Saturday(19TH) the times were solid and honored,

Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday and Friday the guard beams were turned off and the first one to reach the finish line was the accurate winner regardless of Elapsed Times.

The glitch in the new system was fixed and all times Saturday were flawless, we have Datalogs showing us everything that happened, once evaluated I will start posting some legitimate records.

Sorry for the issues, but we all did our best with todays technology.

I had to remove it because the guard beams were turned off and all elapsed times were not valid Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday and Friday.

Sorry to hear this hink. But all timeslips were more or less the same every pass. the computer will not throw up bogus time EVERY run regaurdless if someone forgot to turn on the gaurd beams and u had 3 slips with that i see here that was to close to be bogus. Great job anyway.

If you won the class the trophy is yours, the only problem we had was time slips when the guard beams were off, you guys are fast Mr. Hink no doubt.

There were actually many that had record slips on the 2 1/2 days the beams were off, only one brought me an additional backup time slip when the beams were back on.

Bubba,

The clock does not start until you roll out of the FULL STAGE BEAM(until the beam is remade) or you break the GUARD BEAM. The startline has 3 beams, PRE STAGE, FULL STAGE AND GUARD BEAM.

If you shallow stage (just bring on the Full Stage beam) and stop you are increasing your roll out and effectively have a running start at the race, you will get a better ET, but your furthur away from remaking the start beam so your reaction time would be slower if you leave at the exact same time as if you were staged deeper.

The bigger the roll out (larger diameter wheel) you have the more of a running start you can get. However you also have a guard beam which is 12-17 inches or so in front of the start beam, this will limit your rollout, (example bikes may have low body work behind the front wheels and this may keep the start beam broken preventing the timers from starting) the guard beam acts as a back up to the start beam. If you break the guard beam before you have remade or rolled out of the stage beam the timers will start.

Some bikes that have a low profile, chassis interference, body panel interference, etc. They will run a better time with no GUARD BEAM because the timers dont start until the FULL STage BEAM is remade after the bike is in motion.

ok i got ya. i understand that. wouldnt u have a real bad reaction time and a outstanding 60'. plus no one not knowing the gaurd beams were off would stage wouldnt be trying to get a running start at the lights. i know about gaurd beams i have been racing for years with gaurd beams. you would know a bogus time if u saw it but 3 passes everything was within a few hundredths and reaction times all was in the 550 range. I DONT SEE ANY BOGUS TIMES HERE. THIS IS MY OPINION.

All the information looked good, they could have been all legitimate times with the Full Stage Beam being remade within the 12-17 inches, however since the guard beams were turned off we will never know and it wouldnt be fair to the others who ran there times with them on.

The statement was made at the drivers meetings by Jeff Guillot for those who attended, the guard beams were off but whoever makes it to the 300' mark first still wins in classes.

guys its o.k. , thanks for arguing and trying to make this lagit, but i understand what charlie is saying.i just find it halariuos it took 2 years to find this. me and dillon know what this motor is capible of and we MIGHT put the motor back on dirt.right now its running asphalt and doing a good job at it.anywho just use this as a learning process ,ensure all the timing system is working if your there to set records.so ask the track owner ever pass if its working.lol!!!

All I can say is WOW, I cant believe these time are not going to be honored, I know I worked for 2 years on my 554 for that record and to have it dissappear in a matter of moments is really disturbing, I cant bring that bike back it is gone.

Along with this there need s to be a set of rules as to how each record can be obtained. ( is T&T ok?, or can you run a record and it was in your class should that record stand if it faster than the bigger classes above it too?) this stuff needs to be thought out and put out there so people no what they are dealing with. Those are just a few examples of why it needs to be posted prior to next event.

the real pain is I count on these things as advertising and my phone rings because of it. so I worry, its hard enough to get the whole package together and do it, then something out of my control yanks it away frown I say sift through the rounds and look at the consistency and let them stand if they ran normal numbers

I guess if i can find my slips I can have to 475 record then because in 09 we went 3.73 lol

The most interesting part of this problem is it took replacing a split monitor upstairs in the tower to fix the guard beam issue.

and another bad thing about the timing issue , i let them borrow crimp connections to fix that junk in the tower. yes charlie smith that would be good if ol ryan could set the secret timing on the motor. i dont know where he had it set ,but it fo sho made that mo fo run.

I don't know about the junk in the tower......But the times should have never been put up as a record. I told everyone at the drivers meeting that the times wouldn't stand until we got the guard beams fixed. I am sorry for the trouble that we had. Thats why I spend the money to get Frank from Portatree to attend the race. That way if anythig comes up we have someone to fix the problem. I don't know any other track that does that.

But I do understand u being upset

the times shouldnt have been put up, I didnt challenge what days they were ran. Sorry for not catching them sooner, I know nitrobaby spent alot of effort/money trying to get us good equipment and even hired in professional help from portatree every year. It wasnt cheap and not fair to say its junk.

I belive those time slips are accurate. All of the numbers on them make sense. I had some from when the beams were off and it had me at a very high reaction time (0.900 or so) and low 60 ft (1.2 or so) on a 421 in a stock chassis. It said I ran a 4.01; which the bike wasn't capable of doing then. The only problem that I could foresee is that if someone actually cut a perfect light, their reaction time wouldn't look as bogus; but the 60 ft still would. Is that not how the lights work?
