Thanks Charlie!

That kind of roster will draw the single cylinder 4 strokes to the table!

Is this going to be the same Class Format ran at the Gilbert Race in the Spring of 2010?

That is one of the great things about the new software Charlie has been working on, (the Open Drags format), the computer keeps track of everybody's passes, so it really doesn't matter how many classes the event has....each pass down the track is just like any other, (although some ARE faster than others.....we are talking about 4-strokes......lol), the computer just needs to know "someone" is going down the track and it will keep the records and place that run in the correct class. If there is less than 4 competitors in any class, there will not be a Final-Four heads up shootout for that class.

This is the same format that was used at dome valley correct? When you said top qualifiers from each class will race, does the number of people that enter that class determine how many will be the top qualifiers? Or is it a set number

The number of entrants in each class does determine how many "Top Qualifiers" run in the shootout. I am sure Charlie will post that info on the "flyer" as soon as he finishes it....lol

Charlie, question:

I'm bringing one bike and I will have 2 riders for that bike. Me at 260lbs and a jockey at 160lbs. The bike will be ran in brackets and in the unlimited class. So in the test and tune (qualifying) sessions it is apparently going to hurt the bike for the unlimited ladder if I'm riding it since I will have the slower time. What is the solution for me since both myself and the jockey will be riding the bike during the test and tune/qualifying sessions?

Good Question, Simple Answer ...

When you Ride the PRO CLASS have your PRO CARD attached to the bike, When your Jockey rides have your UNLIMITED CARD attached to the bike. Example if your bike number was 10 then your PRO CARD would say 10P and your UNLIMITED CARD would be 10U, this is what seperates them. Just make sure you have 1 card on the bike at a time.

If there was only 1 rider entered in the 2 classes, the 10U card would give credit to the Unlimited and Pro Class. If it finds you ran a pass with the 10P card then it keeps them seperated.

I thought the format was going to be just like the spring race since we are still in the same calendar year?

Whatever happened to racing other people instead of a computer?

This seems to be just like the dome valley format.

If there are 12 bikes in one class how many are "top qualifiers" for the final race? OR do all bikes get to run and the computer is just setting up the ladder?

THIS MAY BE OUT OF LINE BUT I ADJUST THE AMOUNT OF NITROUS I NEED FOR HOW FAST MY COMPETITION IS....for say the caracal bike if im running a bike thats a 3.60 bike why should i shovel tons of nitrous too it all the time if i dont need too to win...if im racing a computer and not a actual bike thats no fun....anything can happen in a race the bike get crossed up or blow up on the line ....thats whats racing is about....just like kims triple cougar that ran the 3.14 pass it also ran some 3.50s and 3.60s passes so i was told so that tells you he was adjusting nitrous and setup after every pass...too me this is not racing...

I also have a question. If you have only one bike number and it will automatically put the pass in the correct class what about the people that would like to run a smaller bike in a bigger class. If you register the bike for to classes will every pass automatically count in both classes.

The classes listed above are the classes that Planet Sand keeps records in......just like at the LA race.....that doesn't mean each of those classes will have a shootout.
There has been 3 OEM Chassis classes ADDED to try and make a place for guys that want to spend thousands of dollars on an engine, and try to "hide it" in a stock chassis. It has already been shown that a 4-stroke with an OEM chassis "can" run a sub 4.0 pass......will ALL 4 stroke singles run in the 3's, I don't think so.....so PS made a spot to allow people with stock chassis to run and compete.
I would bet that every class will not get a shootout, but records will be kept for that class, whether there is enough entries for a class to have a shootout or not remains to be seen.

I am sure Charlie will post the full class listing as soon as he gets the flyer finished.

I just want to know if i feel like throwing a pilot on my bike like i have done in the past after i remind myself (im too heavy) and i remind others with a jockey my 18 is just as fast as any of em (that should get a rise out of someone) LOL, that i can still do that or after i run a slow pass on T&T day will that hurt him on another day? Or maybe this is where the different ticket comes in.Someone fill me in.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but this is finally making sense to me.

You race the computer first and then the fastest qualifiers get to race each other in a shootout class (if there are enough entries).

Records can be set in either preliminaries or the shootouts.

Is that right?

That is the way it has been set up, and it seemed to work well at Dome Valley...there were fast passes for some "right off the trailer"....while other record passes came during the Final Shootout, well after midnight on the final day.

There are still MANY unanswered questions about this format, but, (IMO), one of the best things about this format is that it allows more passes to be ran during the event.

I understand one of the biggest problems with the "Shootout Format" is "why should I travel half way across the country and then not qualify for the Shootout in my class?" In order to help fix this problem, we may need to have a few less classes where Shootouts are ran, in this way the classes with Shootouts can have more riders qualify into the shootout.....instead of a "Final Four" in a class....maybe we could increase the number of riders in that shootout to a "Super Six" Qualifying bracket....or an "Elite Eight" bracket?

If we can't find a way to compromize in one way or another, we may continue to find ourselves always racing the "Premier Classes" at 2 o'clock in the morning.....after watching bikes running nearly a full second slower running down the track during "Prime Time".........(PLEASE UNDERSTAND....this is just my opinion....lol)

One thing I might suggest is to have a few classes selected as feature classes. These classes could be run NHRA style, where you have qualifing as its set now, and then run off the fast eight or more at a specific time (prime time). You take a sampling of a the builders and racers to select some feature classes and make a commitment to run these classes inbetween these times. This will bolster spectator turnout, sponsor turnout and even the live video feeds.
I know the freinds I bring to Avi do not get to se the bad ass stuff run because its too late , they are in bed or at the casino.
